BillyBurg

My buddy Ariel and I spent a pleasant afternoon in Williamsburg. We checked out the cutest/coolest little cafe called South 4th bar & grill. Ariel's most interesting friend works there so we decided to grab some coffee & a muffin and spend the early afternoon at the bar.

After walking around on the chilly [but sunny] day, we stumbled across some bikers, American Apparel ads, & cow's heads.

Enjoy some photos I took (and one he took of me!) while roaming the area!
Gotta love that J train.

Wo Hop [whoa no]

The Battle of the Best Chinatown Chinese Food has begun.

My pal, homie, buddy, sidekick Anthony has been talking about this restaurant for YEARS! [yes, really years]
Wo Hop at 17 Mott Street in Chinatown.

I ordered some wonton soup & pork lo mien while sipping on some piping hot tea! yipes! As I still feel my fav Chinatown restaurant is superior, I still like that I gave it a chance at beating out Shanghai Kitchen on Bayard as my favorite cheapy Chinese spot.

What are your favorite Chinatown spots? Tell me, tell me! As the search is never over!

Shinbashi & The World's Famous

Some good friends of mine invited me out for a little get together Friday evening. We use to just do Friday happy hours together, but I guess they are trying to get a little fancier!

We arrived at Shinbashi for a very nice Japanese dinner. We included sake bombs, edamame, and sushi rolls to our night and called it a success.

Only to get a call while we were finishing up our last tall glass of beer that my sidekick Anthony had an extra ticket to the much talked about Knicks V. Lakers game.

I said Good-Bye to my friends and dashed out the door, caught a cab to Madison Square Garden and caught the game at half time. Tied!

Although The Knicks were defeated. It was still nice to be in the buzz of the garden with the little hope that next year, it will be an all season buzz.

Diana F +

Lomography.

I bought my first Lomography camera a few months back.
The beautiful Diana F+
The main reason I bought this camera was from all the beautiful shots Taza posted on her blog. Beautiful stuff there! I asked her advice on which particular camera she enjoyed using and what she would recommend for myself. She kindly answered that I should try the Diana F +.
So the lovelies over at Urban Outfitters sold me my lovely toy plastic camera. It took me a while to actually use the camera as it was kinda expensive for a little piece of plastic, and the setting I used, you only get 12 shots.

These are the shots that came out on my one and only roll of film I have produced. It's not perfect, but it's my first. So I am hoping there is many many more great photos to come.

*I recently hit up the Lomography store on 8th street, bought some color 120 film, chatted with the girls that work there for way too long, and learned a thing or two more about my new device.

Brooklyn's Finest....bridge.

This is the first time I've ever walked over the Brooklyn Bridge.
[I've skated it many times]
So many words have been written about this piece of art, so many poems and so many stories,
so many photos and so many drawings.

Being that it has been quite nice the last several days, an idea hand sprung in my head that we should head over to the bk bridge and hike it. So we did. Marv and Vish were great company for a peaceful event.

After we arrived in Brooklyn, we ate in Brooklyn Heights at Siggy's Good Food.
[this place was so amazing. I hightly recommend].

Nothing beat's a stroll and a good meal.

Sketchy Alleys for all!

I have an obsession with trees.
Not all trees, but trees where you can look up and their branches creatively poke out in every direction and either the sky, buildings or some random object is painting the backdrop to the obscure branches.

Click on any photo for larger view. All above photos taken with my beautiful Nikon D60

I was in exploratory mode the other night.
I found myself in Tribeca. It was a journey of exploring this beautiful city by asking my beautiful friends "Left, right or straight" and whichever way we felt like venturing was the way we went.

While exploring with my friends we came across the most peculiar building. As I was a firm believer the building hosted the Men In Black headquarters, the Internet told me other wise.
If you haven't seen this building, I recommend checking it out.
The building stands 550 ft tall and is of Brutalist architectural style. All concrete with no windows. The most bizarre part is seeing the building at night, and almost no light (in massive NYC) for photos to be taken.

KinoKuniya and more!

Kinokuniya bookstore is one of New York City's largest Japanese book stores.
It is amazing.
They have tons of great [English] books on Japanese culture, fashion, TV etc.
Not to mention they have a mass collection of any book, manga, or magazine in Japanese. Including a tasty sandwich shop on the second floor.

The reason we went here, was because a lovely young girl I know, adores the Japanese culture.
She's obsessed!

I had known about this store, and decided to bring her to see for herself. As she is in her second year of Japanese [and she's only in the 9Th grade] I knew she would fully enjoy this experience. Along with her teaching me a few sayings in Japanese, which I have promptly forgotten, I think she will come back to Kinokuniya soon!

Bryant Park snap shots after paroosing in the bookstore.
Checking the scene in Times Sqaure with Ari.
Grandcentralstation with the Chyrsler building in the background

After spending a lot of time in the bookstore [and buying nothing!! idk why!]
we walked, and walked, and walked around the city to different locations. Time's square, grand central, st. marks, the east village & and then all the way down to the lower east side. [The 6 train was included in this journey].

What a beautiful city.

Merci.
